Oregon Barber and Hairdresser (B&H) Grant Program

File the FAFSA and include the barber or beauty school that you plan on attending.

If you filed the ORSAA, contact PublicPrograms@hecc.oregon.gov for assistance on how to print your ORSAA to share with your college to see if you are eligible for the B&H grant. 

There is not a separate application for the B&H grant. You only need to file the FAFSA or ORSAA and contact your school to let them know you are interested. 

You can apply any time. However, your information must be received by the school you plan to attend no later than February 1 of the award year.

Participating schools (listed below) are notified by OSAC each February of the number and amount of grants available. Your school selects eligible students to award and will notify you if you have been selected to receive an award.

You must:

• Be a resident of Oregon
• Attend a licensed school of barbering, hair design, cosmetology, or manicure in Oregon that participates in Federal Title IV financial aid programs and participates in the B&H Grant Program
• Enroll full-time in a program which is at least nine months long or 900 clock hours
• Have significant need for financial help

You are NOT eligible if:

• You are incarcerated
• You will be concurrently enrolled in high school and the beauty or barbering program
• You are in default on any Title IV funds, including federal student loans

Because of limited funds, only students with a significant need for financial help receive B&H Grants. The B&H Grants depend on interest earned on the B&H fund. The number of grants and award amounts vary each year.
